Summer Art program for High school students:

Check out what’s happening around NDSS:

June 7-9th NDSS art students showcased their work in the library for fellow students, staff, and parents to view. Thank you to Ms. Crnkovic, Ms. Kloppenburg, and Mr. Janzen for organizing the art show. Congratulations to all art show participates!

Once again, the NDSS grade 10 Career Life Education students have participated in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative. YPI is a national program that encourages students to learn about the social issues in their community and engages them in directing financial support to charities working to improve these inequities. Each of the charities below will receive $1250.00 because of the student presentations and their peers’ assessments.

This year’s winners are:

The Vancouver Island Crisis Line – championed by Braxton Hall and Gavin Pendergast who discussed the issue of suicide and wellness supports for teenagers.

Nanaimo Youth Services Association – Championed by Brett Williams, Ava Grundmann, Carter Margerison and Callum Ross who discussed the importance of mental health supports for teens.
